Site Updates

Friday July 3rd 2026 07:12:00 PM | Crash
Hello there! It's been a while - about 16 years, I think.

A couple of years ago I finally shut down the old FTP site, and I've only recently gotten around to replacing it with a web-based index of the same files. You can find the link on the "Links" page under "Rum Quake File Repository".

While I was at it, I checked every link on the Links page, updated the Rum file links that still pointed to the old FTP site, and replaced links to decommissioned websites with archived versions from the Wayback Machine whenever possible.

Of course, most of these files are outdated by today's standards and are being preserved primarily for historical and archival purposes. The same goes for this website itself. I recently noticed a somewhat snarky comment on Discord about how outdated the site is. That's true - and it's intentional. This site is a snapshot in time, circa 2004, and that's exactly how it's going to stay. Besides, I have no intention of investing the time and effort required to rebuild a website for an inactive clan.

On another note, you can still find some of us on the "Clan of Rum Discord Server", including myself, Rambo, Venom2, and Crimson. We're also active on the "Net Quake Players" Discord server, where you'll find plenty of Quake veterans from xUx, HDZ, and other classic clans, along with talented developers working on modern Quake engines and projects such as QSS-M, FTE, and the CRX mod.

Finally, I'd like to give a shout-out to the QuakeOne site (https://www.quakeone.com/). It's the best resource these days for modern Quake files, servers, news, and community information.
