QuakeWorld.net

Created to be the #1 resource for the id unsupported Quake ports being handled by Dave 'Zoid' Kirsch of Threewave / id Software and Jack 'Morbid' Mathews of QuakeSpy.

This is the home site for all of Zoid's Quake and QuakeWorld executables. This includes QuakeWorld, his unixded dedicated servers and Linux clients. Unfortunately, however, all the links are dead and they don't even list the latest version of QuakeWorld (v2.30). So, if you want QuakeWorld, download version 2.30 clients and servers from Swedish University's ftp archive. There is a beta (frozen in time, Dec 1998) v2.33 upgrade, qw233-0005.zip, for the Windows regular and gl client and server but not for Linux. Zoid's unixded dedicated servers for Linux, Solaris and bsdi can also be found on Sunet. These will work but are compiled with older libraries which you will have to install. Worse yet, they are susceptible to qkick and other more obscure bugs and vulnerabilities. Proquake (see the link on this page) is going to be the best server for Windows and Linux from now on and is not susceptible to qkick and the other bugs. For Solaris (and bsdi if anybody still uses that) this is the only server available that I know of. Note that the QuakeWorld files in this directory are not the latest. See the above link for QW.
