Spank Clans

Sunday April 23rd 2000 04:09:00 PM | Crash
I just returned from four days out of town and was pointed to a url on no-name clan, Lethal Inforcers, page. Turns out Rum is at the top of a seven clan list of matches. Oddly, all the games are listed as scrims, all of them are LI wins and all of them are clan arena games. Now, last I checked (and I am one of the founders of Rum) we're a CTF clan. We don't, never have and never will play anything as a clan other than CTF. That's peculiarity number one. Peculiarity number two is that the list of seven matches are really not matches, but "scrims" and they are all LI wins. I don't know about the other six games listed, but the Rum screenshots are of a 2v2 that just happened to be two LI guys against two Rum guys (rather than mixed teams) on a public server. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that would be what's commonly referred to as a "pickup game". Not something you would normally post on your page and refer to as a win. Just for the sake of discussion, a scrim would be considered a pre-planned practice game between two clans. Also not an official game. A match is a scheduled competition game between two clans that does count as an official game. This would be the only type of game that a clan could consider an official win. I think, other than LI, we all know this. I'm just pointing it out for LI's sake and so the rest of us can have a good laugh. This is pure speculation here and excuse me if I'm going out on a limb but it would be my guess that LI has never had a scrim, much less a match and that all of those screenshots are of pickup games on public servers. And they have selectively posted only games that they won. In other words, they're doing a little fibbing here. Pure speculation on my part... All this is hardly worth mentioning since I'm sure nobody has ever heard of LI, much less looked at their page. It's just slightly annoying when a clan falsely posts a win against Rum on their page in an effort to use our good name to bolster their own non-existant reputation. I'd challenge them to a real match but it's been my past experience that if a clan posts a bogus win on their page, they'll also try other unethical things if you attempt to have a fair match. See the SK news item for an example...
