24-BIT TEXTURES
===============

Make dm2, dm3, dm4, and dm6 look like Q3. Download the texture sets at: http://www.geocities.com/q1textures
or the mirror site at:
http://texture.n3.net/
Make a folder inside your Id1 folder called ' textures ' and place the files in dm3.zip and dm6.zip inside your new quake/id1/textures folder and enjoy quake1 ala quake3.

PRACTICE BOTS
=============
Launch into game and go into the Multiplayer Menu (Menu->Multiplayer) and from there start a "New Game". Once launched into your map of choice type ' globot ' (no ' quotes ') to add a bot. You can add up to 16 bots and there are 15 different ones.

==========
MIDI MUSIC
==========
Wav, CD and MP3 all use the same wav table on your sound card for playback Quake does so if you were to use them they would lag your game. MIDI only uses SYNTH area so NO LAG AT ALL =)
That's the only reason I included MIDI support and not WAV or MP3 like FMOD which also goes against ID's license agreement. MIDI files take little of Quakes allocation memory and dont slow down the sound engine as midi uses the synth on your sound card but wav and mp3's use the wave table the same as quake does which is why midi dosnet lag you at all. This is a huge advantage for when you want to play at competitive levels while listening to music. I would not advise listening to MP3's while playing quake but MIDI's you'd feel no lag at all.

How to Play MIDI in X-Quake 1.00..
Extract the music.zip that comes with X-Quake 1.00 into the into your ID1 folder so you have quake/id1/music folder with all the .mid files inside of it. I have included 0 - 11 songs. Launch either the new wqxpro.exe or glxpro.exe and connect to server. Just type midi_play "0" or midi_play "1" all the way up to song 11 etc. To change volume use the midi_volume command, maximum volume is "10" Use midi_stop to stop playing midi music.
Optionally you can put midi_audio "1" in your config and the midis in your music folder will automatically play randomly when you connect to servers.

You can also use your own midis. Example: If you had a midi called quakesong.mid, place it into your quake/id1/music folder. Launch Quake and type in console: midi_play quakesong

Other midi commands are:
midi_pause -pauses midi song
midi_restart -replays from the start the midi song your listening to
midi_loop -loops the song your listening to

PICKUP TRIGGERS EXPLAINED
=========================
There's 3 modes, and they are all configurable, tp_took "0" is off. tp_took "1" is tp_quad, tp_pent, tp_ring (powerups) turned on. So say you pickup Quad, it will auto msg "say_team took [TEAM QUAD]" " tp_took "2" is all the above and tp_suit, tp_armor, and tp_mega, tp_rl, and tp_lg turned on. tp_took "3" is all the above and tp_gl, tp_ssg, and tp_sng

msg_ commands msg_quad, msg_pent, msg_ring, commands to change timestamp of
                     tp_took (ex. msg_quad "quad pickup msg here")
tp_1x - 4x           tp_x1 "1" posts tp_took powerup pickups once tp_x2 "1" post
                     them twice etc.

=======
MAX_FPS
=======

X-Quake has a feature called max_fps. By default Winquake, GLQuake, and Dos Quake all have a default max_fps and limit you to 72. X-Quake allows you to change the max_fps to as high as you can go, and here's how to do it:

1. Download and extract wqxpro.exe or glxqpro.exe into your Quake folder from http://planetquake.com/quakeproplus
2. Launch X-Quake, and in game type max_fps "999" in console and press enter.
3. Now type pq_drawfps "1" in console and press enter or hit esc to go to menu, from Main Menu go into Options, and then into [X] Display Menu, and turn on Show FPS. You'll now see a number in the upper right corner of your screen.
4. Run around the map a bit and whatever your average fps number shows (in upper right of screen) is around where you want to cap it. So if the average number is 144 type max_fps "144" and enjoy twice as many FPS in quake :)

You "must" cap it at your highest averaged *FPS or you'll get packet overflow and suffer serious packet loss later in game.

Legend
*FPS = Frames Per Second

TEAM REQUESTS EXPLAINED
=======================

No more team information coordination is necessary when playing online. If
somebody on your team wants to know where you are or what your status is, they
have it! No more having to "figure out" if your teammates need to know where you are, etc. All you need to do is type/bind "say_team location?" and/or "say_team status?", and all your teammates who are also running X-Quake (including yourself) will automatically reply with the requested information. "say_team version?" tells you who on your team is using X-Quake.

BEST WEAPON EXPLAINED
=====================

Added bestweapon [1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8] example:
bind "x" "bestweapon 7 8 6 5 4 3 2 1" (rl = 7 as best weapon) instead of an alias (impulse 1;wait;impulse 2 etc) this one is faster and more reliable.

Are you using one of those 'alias best_weapon "impulse 2;wait;impulse 3;wait;imp...etcetcetc..;wait;impulse 8"' scripts? X-Quake can do that for you faster and more reliably without going through all weapons to figure out which is the best weapon you have ammo for.

Example #1
bind	"enter"	"bestweapon 8 7 3" ..for instance this bind will switch to impulse 8 (lightning gun) but if it's not available will switch to rl and if that's not available will switch to super shotgun. The numbers just follow the impulse # system

this is how i have mine setup:
//impulse binds
bind	"/"	"bestweapon 1 5"
bind	"ins"	"bestweapon 2 5 7"
bind	"pgdn"	"beastweapon 3 5 7"
bind	"space"	"bestweapon 5 4 3"
bind	"end"	"bestweapon 5 4 3"
bind	"shift"	"bestweapon 6 7 8"
bind	"ctrl"	"bestweapon 7 8 3"
bind	"enter"	"bestweapon 8 7 3"

Example #2:
bind shift "bestweapon 7 6 3 2" will when pressing shift, choose the best weapon w/ammo like "impulse 7; impulse 6; impulse 3; impulse 2"

CL_QWLOCS
=========

I've included loc files for you to put into your Quake\Id1\Locs folder for stating to your team your location status. To set this up extract the locs.zip into your id1 folder. If you did that correctly you will see all the loc files inside the x:\Quake\Id1\Locs folder and you can use the bind x "say_team %l" command to state your location to your team. If you use locs inside the locs.zip you will need to make sure cl_qwlocs "1" is on.

cl_qwlocs "1" allows you to only load quakeworld loc files
cl_qwlocs "0" allows you to only load proquake loc files

======
MOVIES
======

How to make movies using X-Quake..

1) first record the demo you want to make a movie with. Make sure the demo your going to use for playback is in your quake\id1 folder.
2) setup any glow, fog, and interpolation effects you want in the menu for your movie by hitting escape and going into menu->options->[X] GL Effects Menu
3) next type in console: true_timescale "0.1"
4) then type at console: playdemo "your-demo-name-here"
5) now type in console: frame_export "20" and after hit tild key (~) to bring the console back up (so you dont end up with a bunch of screenshots of your console instead of the demo ) At this point with all the above settings in place you should be capturing about 30 screenshots per second of normal playback
6) If you want even more than 30 fps there's two things you can do, either lower your max_fps and or set your host_framerate to host_framerate "0.001"
7) sit back and relax awhile, at this point your demo should be playing back veeeeerrrrry slllooooowwwwly, and veeerrry choopppy
8) after you've captured enough frames you wanted for your movie from your demo, bring down console and type: frame_export "0" to stop screenshots from being made every second
9) then type true_timescale "1.0" and host_framerate "0" to put your Quake settings back to normal again
10) now exit quake and you will find all the frames converted into screenshots in your Id1 folder
11) As quake saves each screenshot as a 640x480 TGA image into your Id1 folder, the screenshots are quite large in file size and you will probably want to use a program that can do bulk conversions of images into lower resolution. It's usually a good idea to convert the images from 640x480 into 320x240 (1/2 the size) Also converting them to jpg's or gif's is a good way to reduce the file sizes of the screenshots as well. Programs like photoshop, paintshop, ACDSee 4.0 ( free trial at www.acdsee.com ) are just a few of the countless programs out there that can do this for you.
12) After you have converted all your screenshots from your movie to smaller file sizes, open your your movie making software and go to menu and choose to import images. Import the image screenshots in your quake\id1 folder as an entire sequence and all the frames should automatically load into your movie software ready for you to edit :)
