FPS COMMANDS
============

If your looking for added speed in GL I definitely recommend putting this in your config.

fps_fastsky "1"
fps_fastwater "1"
fps_deadbodyfilter "1"
fps_gibfilter "1"
fps_drawflame "0"
fps_smoketrail "0"
fps_missileparticles "0"
fps_bulletparticles "0"
fps_splashparticles "0"
fps_bloodfilter "1"
fps_explosion "0"

And try using this command line for GL:
glxpro+.exe -mpath -noipx -nojoy -winmem 24 -nocdaudio

A lot of the major speed differences you wont notice until your in the mist of battle when gibs and blood, and explosions etc are going on. Therefore if you want to do an accurate timedemo for DM play I highly recommend you get bigass1.dem from http://www.lokes.dk/files/quake/demos/bigass1.zip Just put it into your Id1 folder, then launch quake and type: timedemo "bigass1" in console. This is far more accurate than doing a timedemo on demo2 because bigass1 has lots of player gibs, blood, explosions, powerup effects etc etc.

Also make sure to setup your max_fps setting the way i described again after you make the above changes as your fps should be increased. The bestweapon feature also helps your weapon switching speed.

FPS Problems? Try this..

I wrote this to try and help Hein with his FPS problems, maybe it will help some other people.

1.) If you added -primarysound to your command line try taking it out.
2.) Check and see if vertical sync is on in your video cards Open GL settings. If it is turn it off
3.) Launch game and put gl_polyblend "1" and gl_flashblend "1" if that dosent work try gl_polyblend "0" and gl_flashblend "0"
4. Launch glxpro+.exe "without" using a bat file, shortcut, autoexec.cfg, config.cfg or command line. Just run glxpro+.exe or the wqxpro.exe by itself from the Quake folder. Once in game type max_fps "999" then turn on Show fps (pq_drawfps "1") If for any reason your not getting the amount of FPS you'd expect from your computer, then you need to make sure you have all the most up to date drivers for your computer hardware and make sure you installed them all correctly by reinstalling them. Check sound card, video card, directX go to www.windowsupdate.com and do all the critical updates. After installing a critical update package keep going back until it no longer says critical update package available, they will continue to appear until you installed all of them. Go to all the company websites for your hardware and get all the latest drivers, if that dosent work go to www.driverguide.com login: drivers pw: all and do a model search of your hardware to see if there's any up to date reference drivers available for your hardware.
