====================
Installing + Running
====================

Create a subdirectory named "elohim" in your Quake directory. Unzip the
file elohim40.zip into this directory. If you are using pkunzip, make sure
you specify the -d option so that the proper directory structure is created.
The following files will be extracted:

progs.dat - Loaded by Quake to implement the Elohim server
elohim.cfg - Config file used to set the administrator password
levels.cfg - Config file used to set the level order
userdefs.cfg - Config file used to set the MOTD and custom levels
elomake.exe - Utility to add the userdefs to progs.dat (Win32 build)
elomake.linux - Utility to add the userdefs to progs.dat (linux build)
entities\*.ent   - Optional entity files
readme.txt       - This file
manual.txt       - User's gude
admin.scr - Script to automatically enter the admin code (place this
                   in your id1 directory)

Edit the files elohim.cfg, levels.cfg and userdefs.cfg. Run elomake.exe (or
elomake.linux) to update progs.dat with the new infomation in userdefs.cfg.
Then start quake as you normally would with the additional parameter
"-game elohim".

Example:

winquake -game elohim -dedicated 12 +fraglimit 50 +timelimit 30 +noexit 1
    +pausable 0 +sv_aim 2.0 +hostname fruitbowl

I am a second year graduate student at M.I.T. in the department of Electrical
Engineering and Computer Science.  I have been hacking Quake since Oct. '97;
this is my first QuakeC modification. I have been hacking computers in
general for 18 years; I started in grade 1 writing BASIC programs for my
VIC-20 and saving them on my tape drive, often accidentally erasing the end
of the previous program.

It would not have been possible to create this server without the help of
Tovi "Izra'il" Grossman, whose suggestions, encouragement and bug reports,
starting from the day the server was conceived, were invaluable. Thanks
also to Justin Hays and Dan "Nesta" at apci for their suggestions and their
help with beta testing the Elohim Server versions 2.0 and up.
